Spoilt!

My new bracelet, a beautiful present from 'himself', is designed by a Kiwi, Boh Runga.  You may already have heard of her sister Bic who is a singer, as is Boh along with being a talented jewellery designer.  You can check out her range of jewellery here (there's also an online shop).  This particular bracelet is from Boh's Messenger Stories range, which is inspired by the feathers of native NZ birds.  I'm thrilled with mine.

THE Wedding... and the Royal Hatter, Philip Treacy

Well, like most of you out there I tuned into the Royal Wedding.  I was a bit indifferent about it all in the lead up, but when the time came, I was as glued to the TV screen as anyone else.  Look, it's pretty compelling viewing isn't it what with all the grandeur, pomp and ceremony... and of course a little glamour thrown in for good measure.  Kate's dress - well it's hard to find fault with it but I was a little underwhelmed.  I think I preferred the evening version of it with the fluffy bolero.

I quite liked Pippa's bridesmaid dress though and bet that will inspire a few 'real' wedding dresses out there.

There are lots and lots of blog posts at this stage discussing the wedding party's style along with that of the celebrity guests (by the way, TPT's electric blue outfit - still can't make my mind up on that).

    via telegraph.co.uk
I've enjoyed looking at many of these posts and throwing in my tuppence worth via the comments box.  So I thought I'd do something a little different in my Royal Wedding post and focus on one of the key accessories of the occasion.  And as the milliner to the Royals (and to many stars) is a Stylish Irish, Mr Philip Treacy, I think this is rather fitting.

I believe Mr Treacy made 36 hats in all for various guests at Kate and Will's wedding.  Here are my five favourites:
    Lady Frederick Windsor via telegraph.co.uk
    Princess Marie Chantale of Greece
    Zara Phillips via telegraph.co.uk
Charlene Wittstock, the fiancée of Prince Albert of Monaco via telegraph.co.uk
    Miriam Gonzalez Durantez via telegraph.co.uk

Time for a new Orla Kiely bag!

Wherever I go, I always get compliments on my Orla Kiely bags, purchased back in the home country in good ole Brown Thomas (or BT's to those of us on familiar terms).  I currently have two on the go - my black and grey stem leaf print (which with it's brown leather handles goes with just about everything!) and my beige, multi coloured stem leaf print (as seen here).   Alas, the black and grey number, which has provided such dedicated service over the past few years, really does now need to enter into retirement and be replaced by a new model this autumn/winter.

So far, the only place I've found in NZ selling Orla Kiely merchandise is smallacorns (I also follow the smallacorns blog).  Here are my three favourite OK bags currently on offer at the smallacorns online shop.

    1. Orla Kiely Alpine Forest Midi Sling
    2. Orla Kiely Acorn Cup Print Betty Bag
    3. Orla Kiely Multidirectional Stem Shoulder Bag
    All above images via smallacorns.co.nz
One of the best features of Orla's bags is the oh so nifty elastic key chain.  I also love the magnetic closure.

It goes without saying of course how delectable the prints and colour combinations are.  The first bag shown above would be a great replacement for my existing bag on account of it's "go with everything-ness".  I'm always a sucker though for black and white and then of course the pops of colours in the third bag would be great to brighten up an otherwise dull winter ensemble.  Decisions, decisions...

In praise of: Green (Happy St Patricks Day!)

Well, seeing as I called the blog "Stylish Irish" and it is our national holiday tomorrow, I thought I had better dedicate a post to gorgeous green.

    First, some green interiors:

    Via This is Glamorous
(By the way check out This is Glamorous blog - it has one of the nicest banners I've seen).
    Via stylehive.com
    Via piecesofheaven
Now to pay homage to one of my favourite Stylish Irish, Orla Kiely (check out my post showing pictures of her home here ).  These prints are oldies but goodies.

    Both images via kaboodle.com
How about some Hunter wellies?  After all, I have been thinking about mudrooms lately.

    Via netaporter.com
Ok, let's glam this back up (though Hunter wellies are glam in their way!).  Here's Keira Knightly in that amazing dress in the movie "Atonement".  Green wouldn't be my first choice for an evening gown, but this is truly stunning (and was once voted ahead of Marilyn's Seven Year Itch white dress and Audrey's LBD in a poll to find the greater movie costume of all time - see here ).

    Via snakerati.com
While we're feeling glamourous, here are some Hermes treats in green.  First up the Hermes Green Porosus Crocodile Constance Handbag as held by/swung on the arms of the Olsen twins.

    Both images via bagbliss.com
And here's a little neck scarf that I already have.  It's had a few outings recently.
    via hermes.com
Wow, I'm tired after all that so here's just one final picture of a beautiful green thing - my home country!

Orla Kiely's Gorgeous Home

I'm a big fan of Stylish Irish Orla Kiely's bags (note to self: time to invest in a new one!).  Here are some pictures of her gorgeous retro styled pad in London.  Mind you, this article appeared in one of the Irish interiors mags House and Home some time before I moved down here (wow - 3 years ago this month!!) so it could be that it's so out of date that Orla has since completely redecorated!  Oh never mind - the colour combinations, prints and retro touches are divine and I think these pictures are still deserving of being called "eye candy"!  Hope you agree.

The chair above reminds me of one my grand dad used to sit in while doing the crossword.  As a kid I thought it was the definition of nastiness, yet here in Orla's living room it looks sublime!  Amazing what a funky cushion can do.

Here again, this had the potential to shriek "nana-chic!" but in Orla's hands, all is well.

Our Stylish Hallway (well...getting there)

Following on from my previous post on stylish hallways (featuring a picture of our then blank canvas hallway) here's a pic of our new to us, antique hall console with a few bits displayed on top.  The Juju is from Tabletonic and the bag is by Orla Kiely , a Stylish Irish designer I'm very proud of.

In praise of: Suzanne Kasler

I recently came across Suzanne Kasler's work in her book Suzanne Kasler: Inspired Interiors and ever since, I'm a big fan of the casual elegant interiors that she creates.  Seems I'm not alone as Elle Decor named Suzanne in their list of top 30 A-list designers last year.  It's difficult to pick my absolute favourite Suzanne Kasler interior of all those pictured in her book but if I absolutely had to, I think this might be it.
